Sophie Ana was born on June 3rd with a
full head of dark brown hair, big round eyes and long eyelashes.
Sophie has 3 toes on her left foot, her left leg is shorter than
her right, she boasts a single digit as her right hand, and has a
clefted soft tissue palate.
After 3 days in the NICU, Sophie came home to
Morning Glory Court to meet her big brother, Rece, then age 2 1/2, and
begin her life as part of our loving family.
It has been a lot of fun to watch Sophie grow, learn to smile,
roll over, spit up, get sweet potatoes all over her face, and all the
normal things that infants do. Her
favorite game with Rece is to put her face in front of his, reach out
with both hands, poke his face with her right hand and grab his hair
with her left hand.
The name Sophie means wisdom, which we have gained
much of since her birth. The
best thing we have learned is that regardless of her physical
differences, she is just another extraordinary little girl making her
mark in this world.
Sophie’s cleft will be surgically repaired
shortly before her first birthday.
Her left foot will be amputated at age 1 1/2 and she will be
fitted with a prosthetic. We
are looking forward to her new foot!
